Why does it seem that heating and air companies are so secretive about their prices?
You need to know what your investment will be before making an informed decision on your equipment purchase. Ballpark estimates are usually not good for either party; you or the company. They are very rarely ever in the right ballpark. Is your equipment the right size, what SEER rating are you interested in & why, where is the equipment located? How much insulation do you have in your home, how many windows? On site estimates are the best insurance for you and the company that will be handling your equipment replacement. An on site estimate insures that there won’t be any surprises at the end of the job. No extras that weren’t agreed upon on the front end. Note: All equipment replacement estimates should be free of charge.
When it comes to service prices, most companies will tell you what they charge as a diagnostic fee / service call etc… We charge $75.00 + tax. That fee covers the cost of sending a qualified technician to your home to thoroughly diagnose your equipment issues. That price will not change whether it takes 30 minutes to diagnose the issue or 3 hours. It also allows us to be able to warranty the repairs we make to your equipment. We will then be able to give you a price on the repair BEFORE doing any further work. That’s right, no surprise bills! We charge up-front flat-rate prices, not time & material prices that can add up very quickly.
So, whether its us or another company, make sure you have all the facts (and prices) up front. In this case, no one likes surprises.
